- Diagnose Intermittent rough idle.
- Checked for warning lights in the instrument cluster. Found check engine light illuminated in the instrument cluster. Connected vehicle battery charger. Connected Snap – On ZEUS diagnostic equipment & performed short test. Found fault codes: P059700 Thermostat Heater Control Circuit/Open. General Failure Information. No sub type Information P030100 Cylinder 1 Misfire Detected. General Failure Information. No sub type Information Fault codes were active & stored in the Engine control unit. Performed guided test. Found command for thermostat actuation not possible. Found Volvo technical bulletin TJ 30268.6.1 dated May 24th 2023 describing guest concern, fault code & repair as replacement of the engine thermostat. Removed electrical connector for thermostat. Found corrosion in electrical connector. Disconnected vehicle battery ground. Raised vehicle on hoist. Removed engine under car panel. Drained engine coolant from radiator. Removed Turbo-charger charge air pipe at throttle body. Removed throttle body. Replaced engine coolant thermostat. Re-installed removed items in reverse order & torqued to specification. Erased fault codes. Performed coolant fill & bleeding procedure. Test drove vehicle after repair & rechecked for fault codes & coolant leaks. Found no fault codes or coolant leaks after repair. Found no warning lights in the instrument cluster after repair & test drive. Miles in : 79654, miles out: 79656.

Found Active misfire in cylinder #1. Removed decorative cover Swapped ignition coils & erased fault codes. Test drove vehicle. Found misfire followed ignition coil indicating a bad ignition coil. The thermostat fault code remained active the entire time. Recommended replacement of all the ignition coils & spark plugs since guest stated the plugs had not been replaced. Replaced all ignition coils & spark plugs erased fault codes. No ignition related fault codes found after repairs. See Thermostat repair line for additional repairs.
